Game Sense United are pleased to announce Clare Planner as our new GS Girls Assistant Welfare Officer.
Clare has recently attended the Jersey FA Club Welfare Officer course and keen to get involved supporting the growth of girls participation in a safe learning environment.
Club Chairman Aaron Travers advised
" We are delighted to have Clare join our volunteer workforce in the role of Assistant Welfare Officer. Clare will be the main point of contact for our girls football provision and is looking forward to meeting our players and parents in the coming weeks.
Clare’s role will be to ensure all our female coaching staff have uptodate qualifications including Safeguarding Children and Basic First Aid whilst also providing football coaching in a fun and safe learning environment. If anyone has any welfare concerns, please contact Clare and she will follow up these concerns taking the appropriate steps”
“The CWO provision in any club is of paramount importance and clubs cannot function without the role being filled. The Welfare Officer also ensures that all adult members working with youth players are subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check to guarantee the suitability of those working with under 18 year olds.
We have Damon O’Driscoll in place as our Lead Club Welfare Officer. Clare and I report into Damon any updates on Welfare Issues, and these are then reported on at the clubs Committee meetings”
GS United now have 3 qualified Club Welfare Officers who attend quarterly Safeguarding meetings with the Jersey FA.
Damon can be contacted by telephone on 07797 733138
Clare on 07797 811725
