Season Review 2015/16

July 11, 2016

What an incredible season!

Due to popular demand GS United started a brand new Group One session to include Reception and Year 1 players. The year began with a Taster Session at the start of September 2015 with over twenty enthusiastic players attending!

Our school Years 2,3,4&5 players have been involved in several match day opportunities with development fixtures against JTC Jersey Wanderers, Trinity FC, Rozel Rovers FC and St Pauls FC. This was also followed up with a Football Festival experience at St.Clements FC Minis World Cup in April 2016.

On the pitch, our youngsters have been fantastic! Players are improving week on week in our practice sessions and match day opportunities. They are growing in confidence and having great fun whilst doing so!

It really is wonderful to witness and a privilege to be part of their development.

Our coaching staff have been working hard around the clock to produce the safest and most enjoyable environment for our young players to thrive in.

GS United Coaches in recent months have been updating their coaching qualifications and also taking refresher courses to ensure that we are always up-to-date with latest developments that will be of benefit to the players we coach.

Coach Jon Le Fondre has committed a lot of time to gain the FA Youth Module 2 Award – Developing the Practice, and is also enrolled on the FA Goalkeepers Level 2 this summer.

We were delighted to announce a sponsorship agreement with Jobhunter.je this season. Jobhunter.je provided sixty minis football kits to help our players have a sense of belonging in our new club, and have helped us provide a stronger identity that is now recognized island wide.

On a sad note, and always one of the most difficult things for us as coaches is to do, is to say a fond farewell to several players who will be leaving us and moving into Year 6 next season. Some of these players have been Game Sense since the first kick of a football on our opening day just over three years ago.

Harlan, George, Adam, Felix, Ethan and Elliott we hope we have helped you grow a passion for sport that will last a lifetime and would like to thank both you and your parents for all your effort, commitment and enthusiasm whilst being part of our footballing family at GS United. We will miss each of your unique personalities and wish you ever success in what your bright futures hold for you.

We are delighted with how the club has progressed, and there are more developments to come in the future.

I would like to thank you all our parents and spectators who have supported us throughout our journey so far, and of course all the children who have been involved in our coaching sessions.

I would also like to thank our coaches for the massive amount of work that they put in. Not only delivering age appropriate practice sessions, but for all the work that goes on behind the scenes that many people do not see or hear about.

Without all of you, quite simply, GS United would not have happened.

We hope you have all enjoyed being part of the ‘United’ experience and look forward to see you all again in September.

The futures bright, the future’s orange!

#practice #learn #improve #gsunited

Yours in Sport,
