On Sunday afternoon our young Under 11s trekked all the way out to St.Ouens to play in what can only be described as horrible conditions! Rain coming in sideways, wind blowing wildly and to add to that is was pretty chilly out there!
However! The #orangearmy stood firm and attacked the day. Prior to the game our players reviewed video footage of their training session from Wednesday where we worked on winning the ball back in the midfield area and being compact. The team showed a good understanding of what we were working towards and so the challenge was to put it into practice during a game!
And that they did! The game was evenly balanced throughout and even in the poor weather was a great spectacle for the supporters (and coaches!) of both clubs.
William in his new position of number 9 opened the scored after some great play down the left hand side saw a low ball played into the centre of the box for William to put in the top bins postage stamp area with a spectacular finish from 12 yards.
Boden also got his name on the score sheet with another break down the left hand side and produced a wonder lob effort that the St.Ouen keeper could only parry but not keep out of the goal.
A great competitive game to be a part of where our players showed some real understanding of our new team formation and structure. Coaches Chris and Aaron we delighted with how our players showed great determination and effort in challenging conditions.
Thanks to Andy and Alan at St.Ouen FC for their hospitality and to all our players and parents for their continued support.
